Read MoreHide Full Article

Key Takeaways

  • FMC filed rimisoxafen for approval in Brazil, its second global regulatory submission for the herbicide.
  • Rimisoxafen's dual mode of action showed consistent activity against resistant small-seeded broadleaf weeds.
  • FMC has advanced three novel herbicide active ingredients to regulatory submission in Brazil.

FMC Corporation (FMC - Free Report) has submitted a regulatory dossier for rimisoxafen to Brazilian authorities, marking the second global regulatory submission for the herbicide following its filing with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in July 2026. The filing advances FMC’s efforts to develop next-generation crop protection solutions and bring them to major agricultural markets.

Brazil is one of the world’s largest soybean and corn producers, with more than 50 million hectares of soybeans and more than 20 million hectares of corn under cultivation. Growers are increasingly dealing with resistant broadleaf weeds, including Amaranthus hybridus and Amaranthus palmeri, creating demand for newer methods to enhance crop productivity.

The Herbicide Resistance Action Committee classified rimisoxafen under Groups 12 and 32. Being the first dual mode of action herbicide, its field testing has demonstrated consistent activity against small-seeded broadleaf weeds, including those resistant to other herbicides. The product could therefore help growers diversify weed management programs and support resistance management.

Rimisoxafen is the third novel herbicide active ingredient FMC has advanced to regulatory submission in Brazil, following Isoflex and Dodhylex. These product submissions represent FMC’s depth and productivity in the R&D pipeline and are expected to advance as the regulatory process progresses. However, rimisoxafen remains subject to regulatory review and approval and is not currently registered for sale or use in Brazil or any other country.

FMC shares have slumped 72.6% in the past year compared with the industry’s 10% growth in the same period.
